Repeat Prescriptions

If you are on long-term medication you can get a repeat prescription by ordering online (via the link at the top of this page) or by bringing in your printed list of drugs, marked with the items that you require, or by posting it to us.

Please order online, post, or call in, giving us a clear 3 workings days notice.

If you have not used Patient Access online services before, please click here for information about the service and how to register.

Please note: We do not accept prescription requests via the telephone.

Medication Reviews

You may be asked to see a doctor or our Clinical Pharmacist before a repeat prescription is issued.

A review date on your prescription means that your doctor will not issue another unless they have seen you or spoken to you on the phone before that date.

Please always check your review date and allow yourself enough time.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at nhs.uk

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
